Aerification 2013

Last week's aerification was a memorable one. The crew arrived Monday morning anxious to start only to be sent home shortly after as the rain began to intensify. We eventually broke ground Tuesday afternoon with 1.5 inches of rain in the gauge and the sun finally poking through the clouds. Staying late, we finished 5 greens and were ready to keep moving Wednesday morning when temperatures fell to18 degrees overnight with the wind chill leaving the ground solid as a rock, frozen. Thursday saw more delays as snow blanketed the short grass and by Friday late afternoon we were completing the 18th green with a sigh of relief.

Update

Winter is hanging on by its finger tips but warmer weather is on the way. I will be returning the pins to the greens this weekend with expected temperatures near sixty and they will remain there for the remainder of the season.
Monday, March 18th is the scheduled start day for course aerification.  The above average temps next week may allow us to begin punching holes on a few fairways.  Core aerifying the smaller 9, 12, and 15 on Monday the 11th and tackling a few more later in the week will help us finish the 24 acres of fairways ahead of schedule. Our staff will do their best to complete these holes before golf arrives, but for their safety, if we are still working on a particular hole please skip ahead. The sooner we accomplish this important task the sooner everyone can enjoy great course conditions.
